Learning to play the piano is a once in a lifetime experience, in which parents should overlook closely when it comes to introducing their children to piano lessons.
Music instruction in the early stage of life is not only a way to educate children, but also helps to raise their self esteem and learn discipline that will be necessary to attain different goals through their life.
Kids show off enthusiasm to learn music and play an instrument, but without the adequate guidance and encouragement, the piano can become a boring, discouraging, and even frustrating experience for them.
Piano training also increases children's concentration and coordination, but make sure the lessons are fun learning time. Although, there is training material especially designed with kids in mind, you can also guide them through the different chords creating a game-like challenge to help them associate each of their fingers with the corresponding key.
Learning piano requires dedication and they will probably try to run away to play or watch TV before a lesson is finished so create a reward and you will get them at the piano for the time necessary to practice their every day lesson.
The piano is much like playing sports. Make lessons a challenge and compensate their effort with a prize that could be their own home-party recital when they be able to play a few songs without mistakes, but be patient while they practice and correct their digiting with kind words rather that punishment.
Gaining confidence, while practicing requires a smile at every mistake, and the joyful satisfaction for both kids and parents when harmonious chords and melodies take the place of dissonance is a wonderful treat.
Translate the notes of a piece of music into rhythm requires concentration so keep all the printed material at the piano that your kids may need to identify the musical scale, fingering correspondences, distribution of chords, etc.
Many piano teachers recommend program piano lessons for your children, assisted by a computer because of it graphic environment that makes it easier for learning and measures the interest they have in mastering the piano, which is a useful marker for parents before investing in a costly musical instrument.
